Brad Paisley, Wife Kimberly Share Their Secret To A Happy Marriage

If you ask Brad Paisley and his wife, Kimberly Williams-Paisley, the secret to a happy marriage is simple: It's all about making it a point to highlight the good times.

In the Paisley household, that means keeping a special journal that the couple add to every year on their anniversary on March 15, detailing their favorite memories and funniest highlights of the year behind them.

"Our greatest hits," Kimberly explained to People in a 2021 feature celebrating the couple's wedding anniversary. "We record the meaningful moments, the best laughs. That's a big part of our relationship — focusing on the laughter and keeping a sense of play."

They've been married since 2003, but 2020 was tumultuous enough to test the bonds of any relationship. Paisley, who typically spends a large portion of every year on the road, had to halt his touring plans amid the COVID-19 pandemic. The same shutdown paused filming for Kimberly's normally rigorous acting schedule.

"She's used to three days a week at minimum that I'm gone, so we've learned a lot about ourselves this year," the country star noted, telling his wife, "I figured out I really like being around you!"

The scrapped work plans didn't mean that the Paisleys sat around their house doing nothing all day. On the contrary, they threw themselves into their Nashville-based non-profit, The Store, a free grocery store for those in Middle Tennessee facing food insecurity. The Store opened its doors pre-pandemic, but quickly had to adapt and expand as pandemic shutdowns threw more families into homelessness and food insecurity.

Although Kimberly joked that she was looking forward to "putting [Brad] on a tour bus" once concerts resumed, both husband and wife agreed that the experience of the 2020 shutdown ultimately strengthened their relationship.

"There's no substitute for memories and time and having experienced all of this together," Paisley reflected.

Brad Paisley Jokes Wife Kimberly Isn't 'still Sure' She Likes Him After Quarantine

Brad Paisley and his wife, Kimberly Williams-Paisley, have been married since 2003, but they're still making up their minds on how they feel about each other!

At least, that was the joke the country singer made during a recent Sunday Sitdown with Willie Geist on Sunday TODAY while reflecting on life during the pandemic.

"I've never spent a summer largely home with my kids, and what a great time in their lives to do that, at 11 and 13, to be able to go and spend that time," Paisley said, referring to his sons, Jasper and William, respectively. "So that part was great."

Willie then asked if he and Williams-Paisley "found new ways to enjoy each other's company" during quarantine, to which Paisley replied, laughing, "Yeah. I actually like her. That was something I wasn't, you know, I was forced to confront. So was she."

"I like to think you knew that a long time ago," Willie quipped.

"I knew that," the three-time Grammy winner answered. "I don't know if she's still sure yet, but it doesn't matter."

"No, it's great," he added. "We had a pretty good time."

The couple celebrated their 18th wedding anniversary in March — with very different Instagram posts marking the occasion. Paisley opted to go the tongue-in-cheek route, sharing a photo of his wife crying alongside the caption, "Happy anniversary @kimberlywilliamspaisley ! Tears of joy... Right?"

The mother of two, on the other hand, posted a cute couple selfie, writing, "18 years I've been married to this man!! I can't believe all that's happened and all that we've done in that time. Thank you for this adventure. I love you @bradpaisley."

Another way the musician occupied his time in quarantine: by writing his new single, "City of Music." He was never in the same room as his co-writers.

During the pandemic, Paisley got to chat with fans over Zoom, as well.

"I know what pajamas my fans wear," he chuckled to Willie. "I know what artwork they prefer in their homes and what kind of mounted animals they have on the wall. And it's awesome. I got to know them better than I think I ever did in a meet and greet."

With much of the adult population vaccinated, Paisley is starting to return to more normal life. He's performing for between 200,000 and 300,000 people on July Fourth in Nashville's Lower Broadway entertainment district.

"I think when you take something away for a year and a half, you could basically go down there, they could do a local community theatre production of 'Yankee Doodle Dandy,' and they'd have 300,000 people in there," he laughed.

"We were going to play last year. I'll never forget in March when all hell broke loose, and they pulled the rug out from all of us and said, 'No tours. Let's all stay home.' And I remember saying, 'This is great, couple of months, (we'll be) back in June.' Here we are, finally."

"This is so amazing to have the miracle of somehow getting the virus under control in this country and the ability to safely do this and the ability to celebrate that we're able to get back together," he added.

Alabama Announce 'Roll On II' 2024 Tour Dates

Over the past several years, the members of Alabama have weathered their fair share of health challenges and other logistical difficulties, keeping them from the stage. So they never take the opportunity to tour for granted — and they're getting that chance once again in 2024.

On Thursday (March 21), the group announced a lineup of dates billed as the 2024 Roll On II North American Tour, a reprisal of their 2023 tour of the same name. It's a nod to the band's "Roll On (Eighteen Wheeler)," a hit from 1984, as well as a fitting name for a tour presented by Kenworth Trucking Company.

In a statement, frontman Randy Owen says fans who attend a show in 2024 can look forward to singing along to all their favorite Alabama hits.

"I look forward to singing 'Mountain Music,' 'Tennessee River,' 'Feels So Right' and so many more," Owen relates in a statement. "It's just a matter of getting up onstage and enjoying it. We can't wait to see the fans who made it all possible."

For many of the shows, the band will have some extra musical pals along to make the moment even more special. Diamond Rio, the Marshall Tucker Band, Jamey Johnson, Lee Greenwood and the Bellamy Brothers are all booked to perform on various dates on the tour.

In late 2023, Owen gave Taste of Country a positive update on his health, but he stopped short of committing to tour plans for 2024.

"I'm 73 years old. I just had my tests and everything, and everything came back really good. I had my flu shot. So I'm ready to go," he said at that time, but added that the health setbacks he's suffered in the past have left him cautious — and appreciative of every chance he gets to set foot onstage.

"I just never know. I enjoy every show and thank God I get to do one more show," Owen added.

For ticketing information for Alabama's upcoming tour dates, visit the band's website. More dates are expected to be announced at a later time.

In 1999, Shania Twain's Come on Over album became the first to top the year-end chart in back-to-back years, but that feat has been done four times since, most recently in 2022. Which country album defined your childhood? Scroll down to find out.
