Kanye West Appears At No. 1 On Seven Billboard Charts This Week

Kanye West returned to Billboard's albums charts last week with his comeback set, Vultures 1. The project, which was marketed as a collaboration with Ty Dolla $ign under the name ¥$ (it was also attributed to their individual artist names), was a quick win for both stars. One week later, the set has not fallen from the highest spot on several tallies–and including his past work, the controversial rapper is leading quite a few lists.

This week, West claims the No. 1 title on seven different Billboard charts. Most of those rankings are ruled by Vultures 1, but that's not the only project from the hip-hop musician that's running the show on the weekly albums tallies.

Vultures 1 earns a second stay at No. 1 on the Billboard 200 this week. The list is known as the most competitive albums ranking in the U.S., as it shows which titles Americans are listening to. The tally includes all genres and uses a methodology that combines pure purchases, sales of individual tunes on a title, and streaming activity.

West earned his eleventh No. 1 on the Billboard 200 with Vultures 1 when it debuted in first place last week, while $ign collected his first with the project. This frame, consumption of the effort drops precipitously, but it didn't face very tough competition, so it was able to maintain its hold over the ranking.

Since Vultures 1 is still the No. 1 album in America, it makes sense that it also keeps atop several more specific lists. The set is still running the show on the Top Streaming Albums and Independent Albums charts as well. Looking at the genre-only rosters, Vultures 1 is once again in charge of both the Top R&B/Hip-Hop Albums and Top Rap Albums tallies.

West's busy week involves more than Vultures 1, though. He is still sitting at No. 1 on both the Top Christian Albums and Top Gospel Albums charts, but not with his latest hip-hop collection. His 2021 effort Donda is still in charge of both of those rankings, even after years on top. The set has now ruled the Top Christian Albums ranking for 98 frames and the Top Gospel Albums chart for 125 turns.

In a few days, Vultures 1 will likely fall from No. 1 on the Billboard 200, but it might be able to earn another frame atop the hip-hop and rap lists. Donda also shows no signs of stepping down, so West may be headed for more turns in first place on several of the aforementioned Billboard rankings.

Blackpink's Jennie Matches BTS' Jimin's Are Tied For A Bit Of Chart History

Blackpink singer Jennie scored the hit of her solo career—at least thus far—when she joined The Weeknd and Lily Rose Depp on his song "One of the Girls," which was written and recorded for the TV show The Idol. While the series may be over, the music continues to perform well, and this frame, the singer matches another major musician from South Korea as her latest hit continues to climb on the Billboard charts.

This week, "One of the Girls" lifts to a new peak position on the Hot R&B/Hip-Hop Songs chart. The collaborative cut jumps to No. 18, entering the top 20 and matching a historic high point.

"One of the Girls" is now tied as the third-highest-rising hit by any South Korean musical act in the history of the Hot R&B/Hip-Hop Songs chart, which tracks the top-consumed tunes in the U.S. Each week that fit under those genre labels. As of this week, Jennie is now on the same level as Jimin, one of the seven singers in the K-pop boy band BTS.

Just last year, Jimin earned his first hit on the Hot R&B/Hip-Hop Songs chart. He is featured on the single "Angel Pt. 1" from the soundtrack that accompanied the latest Fast and the Furious film. The tune also credits NLE Choppa, Kodak Black, Muni Long, and Jvke, and it also peaked at No. 18.

The highest-charting hit by any South Korean musician in the history of the Hot R&B/Hip-Hop Songs chart remains "Girl of My Dreams," by Juice WRLD and Suga. Another BTS singer, Suga lent his vocals and name to the late WRLD's single, which peaked at No. 3 on the tally. It remains the only top 10 smash by a South Korean artist in the ranking's history.

Not too far ahead of both "Angel Pt. 1" and "One of the Girls" is "On the Street" by J-Hope. The BTS member recruited J. Cole for one of his most recent releases, and the rapper's presence helped the tune become a big win on the Hot R&B/Hip-Hop Songs chart. It rose as high as No. 14 in early 2023 shortly before J-Hope joined the South Korean military.

"One of the Girls" may be tied for this bit of history at the moment, but that might not be the case for much longer. The single has been climbing for months now across rankings, and in just the past few weeks, it's gained a lot of ground on the Hot R&B/Hip-Hop Songs chart. There's a good chance that it will soon lift again, and in doing so, it will break its tie with Jimin's smash and continue its ascent.
