Phoenix Share Braxe + Falcon's New Remix Of "Winter Solstice": Listen

Beloved French touch producers Braxe + Falcon have released a new remix of Phoenix's Alpha Zulu song "Winter Solstice." Find the new song below.

"We were so moved when we heard what Falcon and Braxe did with the song," Phoenix remarked in a press statement. "It is the song that sums up our pandemic times for us, and since we stayed in touch with Falcon throughout that time, it was a full circle moment. We love the fact that their music is both deep and conceptual, and always so sincere. Merci les copains."

Alan Braxe added:

It's Phoenix; it's a very beautiful song with moving lyrics; there's a lifetime friendship between DJ Falcon and the boys. All these elements made the starting point for this remix quite symbolic and some sort of healthy pressure was there when we listened to the stems for the first time. Suddenly we realized that, unlike many songs "Winter Solstice," is, of course, based on a 12-bar musical cycle. That was the trigger point for us; we love musical loop, and 12 bars create a space where it's easy to get lost in a very pleasant way. We kept it quite downtempo, not so easy to play in clubs but it was the only option to preserve Thomas' voice. Hope you'll like it.

And DJ Falcon said, "The day has finally come after 30 years of friendship and multiple attempts of remixes for my favorite band! I today team up with my cousin for this remix of 'Winter Solstice'! Thank you for your trust my dear Deck, Chris, Branco, and Thomas."

Since releasing Alpha Zulu, Phoenix have released a new version of the album's "After Midnight" with Clairo. Soon, the band heads out on tour with Beck.

Stream Fog Lake's Surprise New Album Midnight Society

Fog Lake, the lo-fi project of Newfoundland-based Aaron Powell, has been relatively quiet since releasing 2021's Tragedy Reel LP. Last year, Powell released a collaborative single, "where are you now," with dj poolboi, and then came a DJ Planet Express remix. Now, Powell has surprise-released a whole new album called midnight society. "Make whatever you will out of this," he wrote on Bandcamp. "I'm gonna disappear for a bit."

Róisín Murphy Announces DJ Koze–Produced Album Hit Parade And Tour, Shares New Song: Listen

Róisín Murphy has announced a new album, Hit Parade, produced by DJ Koze. It's out September 8 via Ninja Tune. Listen to new song "The Universe" below and check out a batch of tour dates including headline shows in New York and Los Angeles. The single follows "CooCool" and the limited-release single "Can't Replicate (12" Edit)."

Of the collaboration, Murphy said in a press release:

We worked remotely, in different countries sending tracks/ideas back and forth for several years. I always have to approach a new collaboration with openness and a willingness to learn and never more so than with this.

The studio in this case was imaginary, in the airspace between Hamburg and London. That meant we were both in a personal, private place when working on the songs. For me that brought out a more intimate approach to the songwriting, I told this album my secrets. For Koze it meant total freedom and absolute focus without the distraction of my presence. He too took a deep dive into himself and I believe that's why the music is so vibrant and alive. It is just exploding with colour!

The Hit Parade artwork was made by Beth Frey with graphic design by Bráulio Amado. It was commissioned by creative studio Object & Animal.

Murphy's last album was 2020's Róisín Machine. A remix album called Crooked Machine followed in 2021.
