Banned books: What a new wave of restrictions could mean for students
Titles like "Maus" and "Beloved" are being pulled from libraries across the country amid an uptick in book bans. Here's how that could affect students.

Florida ranked second in the nation for school-related book bans with 566 books banned in 21 Florida school districts, according to an analysis published Monday by PEN America, a free speech and literary organization.
Texas was the only state with more bans at 801 across 22 districts.
The school districts with book bans are in Brevard, Broward, Clay, Duval, Flagler, Hernando, Indian River, Jackson, Lake, Lee, Orange, Osceola, Palm Beach County, Pinellas, Polk, Santa Rosa, Sarasota, St. Johns, St. Lucie, Volusia and Walton.
The most targeted books in Florida are "Thirteen Reasons Why" by Jay Asher and "The Hate U Give" by Angie Thomas, both of which have eight bans.
More: Schools banned books 2,532 times since 2021. It's all part of a 'full-fledged' movement.
