Jimmy Eat World’s Jim Adkins Shares Look at New ‘555’-Inspired Graphic Novel - Rolling Stone

Image
Jimmy Eat World lead singer Jim Adkins has shared several exclusive pages from his upcoming graphic novel,  Jimmy Eat World: 55 5 , with  Rolling Stone . The comic is currently available for preorder, to be released on June 15th. The plot of the graphic novel is based on the band's music video for "555," released in October 2019. The video depicts the alien Klaarg as he takes on a job as overseer of a galactic factory for Kudj Kram, a form of cloned slave labor. When the factory is targeted for closure, Klaarg realizes he is just as expendable to his superiors as the clones he oversees. "There was a lot of backstory thought put into the characters in our video for '555,'" Adkins said. "It felt like in order to really pull off how bizarre of a video it was for us, it had to be totally serious. But the story had only the most basic relation to the song, which is about accepting your reality in order to actually do something...

LIBERO COPPER PROVIDES UPDATE ON EXPLORATION DRILLING AT MOCOA - Canada NewsWire

Image
"We are excited to re-establish exploration and drilling efforts on the Mocoa porphyry copper-molybdenum system.  The significant long intervals of copper and molybdenum mineralization is a coveted characteristic that only a handful of world-class copper porphyry deposits contain.   Mocoa is already the largest copper resource in Colombia , and one of the world's largest undeveloped molybdenum deposits, but confirmation of mineralization through-out the blank zone indicates exploration is still only beginning at the project," comments Ian Harris , President & CEO.  "We are thankful with the level of support for the project across all levels of government and especially from the local communities.  The Mocoa team together with our neighbors have demonstrated the ability to advance the project in a relatively short time frame and drilling the deepest hole on the project is one of several milestone achievements to d...

Best Birthday Songs of All Time: Beyond 'Happy Birthday' Song - Billboard

Image
Gathering friends and family around a candlelit cake to sing "Happy Birthday to You" has been a birthday tradition in English-speaking households for over a century. In 1998, the Guinness Book of World Records even named it the most recognized song in the English language. Whether you love it or hate it, it's safe to say the tune (which has several extended versions and comedic renditions) isn't going anywhere… but it doesn't have to be the only song that defines the day. Artists from Lesley Gore in the '60s to Stevie Wonder in '80s to Katy Perry in the 21st century have all completely reinvented the long-established birthday singing tradition with new and inventive melodies of their own. From classic tracks that will make you want to "party like it's your birthday" even when it's not ( a la 50 Cent) to deep cuts that have you questioning your own mortality (we're looking at you, Sufjan Stevens' "Happy Birthday"), c...

15 great rock songs from the ‘90s that sound like they’re from the ‘70s - AL.com

Image
Maybe it was because The Rolling Stones had recently reunited. Or, like alternative and grunge, it was a counterreaction to the slick contemporary hard-rock and metal that had been dominating the mainstream. Or even a ripple effect of classic-rock radio. However it happened, the '90s became a fertile decade for new rock music that sounded like it was from the '70s. Or as it was more commonly and pejoratively referred to back then, "retro rock." While vintage-style rock was by no means the sound of the '90s, it was at least a scarf-shaped sliver of it. During the previous decade, bands like the Georgia Satellites tilled what later acts like The Black Crowes would soon reap. The Satellites' Stones-y lark "Keep Your Hands To Yourself," released in late 1986, became an unlikely smash – and proof brand-new, classic-style rock could do big business. Other rootsy '80s rockers like Los Angeles combo The Broken Homes, featuring future members of the solo...

Top Taylor Swift Songs: Her 40 Biggest Top 100 Hits - Billboard

Image
Few artists have earned the chart hits, fan support and critical acclaim that Taylor Swift enjoys. Emerging as a country singer-songwriter on her 2006 self-titled debut before branching out into the worlds of pop music, indie folk and beyond, Swift has notched eight No. 1s on the Billboard Hot 100, inspired a dedicated legion of Swifties and won the Grammy for album of the year three times — for Fearless , 1989 and Folklore ; She is just the fourth person, and the first woman, to win that prestigious Grammy three times. In 2019, Swift was honored as Billboard 's first ever Woman of the Decade at our 2019 Women In Music event, not just for her commercial success, but for her commitment to protecting creative rights, music education, literacy programs, cancer research, disaster relief and the Time's Up initiative. Here are the 40 biggest Taylor Swift songs, based on actual performance on the weekly Billboard Hot 100 (through the chart dated March 19, 2022).

Five Burning Questions: Charlie Puth’s ‘Light Switch’ Brightens Up the Top 40 - Billboard

Image
From 2015 to 2018, there were few artists who were as regular a presence on pop radio than Charlie Puth, whether in hit collaborations (with Wiz Khalifa on "See You Again," Meghan Trainor on "Marvin Gaye" and Selena Gomez on "We Don't Talk Anymore") or on his own ("One Call Away," "Attention," "How Long"). But in the years since, we hadn't heard much of Puth on radio or seen him on the Hot 100 — outside of his arrival on the remix to Gabby Barrett's country crossover smash "I Hope" — until this year's "Light Switch." Explore See latest videos, charts and news After debuting just outside the chart's top 40 in February, "Light Switch" has hung around the Hot 100, and this week makes a big jump from 48 to 29. Radio is unsurprisingly a major driving force behind Charlie Puth's comeback, with the s...

Mourning Jeff Carson, One of the Coolest Country Stars I Ever Met - q1065.fm

Image
When I heard the news that '90s Country singer Jeff Carson had died, I was flooded with memories of a truly nice down-to-earth guy who visited Bangor in the '90s. I was dozing off on a lazy Sunday afternoon when my phone buzzed. The newsperson in me can't resist checking to see what news story prompted an alert. When I read that Jeff Carson had died, I couldn't believe it. Taken far too soon at the age of 58, felled by a heart attack at a Tennessee Hospital. Jeff Carson started out as a songwriter and was behind some hit songs for artists like Faith Hill and Reba McEntire. As a solo artist, he went on to release songs like, 'Yeah Buddy,' 'Not On Your Love,' and my favorite, 'The Car.' But my memories of Jeff are not of the music he released, but of the person he was. It was around '94 when Carson paid a visit to Q-106.5. Word got out that Jeff was a major law enforcement fan, so we had some police officers drop by to give him some pa...

Ranking the 10 biggest selling albums of all time - Far Out Magazine

Image
Art vs chart and the ways of commercialism and creativity is a debate with no end and very little middle-ground space for ponderance. For every Frank Zappa who asserted: "Art is moving closer to commercialism and never the twain shall meet," there is an Andy Warhol who opines: "Being good in business is the most fascinating kind of art. Making money is art and working is art and good business is the best art." The records on the all-time global best sellers list are inherent oddities. They are artefacts that have surpassed usual levels of popularity and entered a weird phase of becoming a cultural phenomenon. More so than reflecting tastes, they seem to me to reflect a mental anomaly that commercial strategists, psychologists and anthropologists alike should study in-depth. The list below is by no means a collection of the greatest records of all time, far from it, in fact. It neither reflects defining albums, ground-breaking cultural changes or zeni...

Poll: Which Linkin Park Album Is the Best? - Vote Now - Loudwire

Image
We've been asking your favorite songs by different artists for a while now, so it's time to switch things up. Now, we're gonna make the question a little broader — though it doesn't exactly make picking an answer mush easier — and ask your favorite albums by each artist. Thus, we are introducing Loudwire Nights' very first Album of the Week poll. You'll have until Friday at noon ET to cast your votes. We'll then play the three tracks from the album with the most votes during Loudwire Nights' Album of the Week block to start the following Monday's show! With the late Chester Bennington's birthday approaching (March 20), we figured we'd start with Linkin Park. So — which of Linkin Park's seven studio albums is the best? Their 2000 debut  Hybrid Theory  is still their best-selling album to date. It's sold 30 million copies worldwide, and peaked at No. 2 on the Billbo...
