Mario Kart 9's Biggest Change Could Be Going Open-World - Screen Rant

Mario Kart has been known for innovating the party racing genre in different ways, and its next installment - the rumored Mario Kart 9   - could feature an open world. While other racing games like Forza Horizon 5 have embraced world maps and integrated racetracks, Mario Kart has instead added underwater racing, anti-gravity, and flying mechanics to its gameplay. At the time of Mario Kart 8 's release, these features were still new and fresh, but now people might be wondering where the franchise can innovate next. It's not an easy task to think of ways that Mario Kart can reinvent the genre, and a lot of speculation has been directed towards a possible Smash Bros. -inspired crossover roster   in  Mario Kart 9 . Barring that, however, new driving mechanics might be hard to create. It might make sense for Mario Kart 9 to embrace the improvements that other games have made and bring open-world racing design to the series, as its so...

‘We Don’t Talk About Bruno,’ From ‘Encanto,’ Tops Billboard Hot 100 for Fourth Week - Billboard

Image
"We Don't Talk About Bruno," from Disney's hit animated film Encanto , leads the Billboard Hot 100 songs chart for a fourth week. The ensemble song – by Carolina Gaitán, Mauro Castillo, Adassa, Rhenzy Feliz, Diane Guerrero, Stephanie Beatriz and the Encanto Cast (all singing as the characters that they voice in the movie) – claims outright the most weeks at No. 1 on the Hot 100 ever for a hit from a Disney movie, animated or live action, as it passes the three-week reign of "All for Love," by Bryan Adams, Rod Stewart and Sting, from The Three Musketeers , in 1994. Meanwhile, Glass Animals' "Heat Waves" rises to a new No. 2 Hot 100 high; GAYLE's "abcdefu" reaches the top five, climbing 7-4; and Lil Nas X's "Thats What I Want" returns to the top 10, pushing 12-9 for a new best. Here Are the Best Oscar-Winning Disney Songs, Ranked - MovieWeb

With the 94th Oscars coming this March, it's a good time to take a look at some past Academy Award winners. Disney songs and films more often than not have quite the presence at the Oscars. This year Encanto has been nominated for best original song with its beautiful piece Dos Oruguitas by Lin-Manuel Miranda. There is some great competition in this category. The nominations include Down to Joy from Belfast, Somehow You Do from Four Good Days , Be Alive from King Richard, and No Time to Die from No Time to Die . In hindsight, the choice to put forth the Disney song Dos Oruguita may not have been the wisest decision, as We Don't Talk About Bruno has far surpassed it in popularity, with 255 million YouTube views and counting. So, why did Disney submit "Dos Oruguitas?" Disney thought that te narrative of Dos Orugitas would be more successful, as it's the first song Lin-Manuel Miranda has written entirely in Spanish, but it's also hard to assess the pop...

Best love songs by local artists - Daily Cardinal

Image
Music is many things, but for the artist it's often a therapeutic way to deal with feelings and emotional energy. Putting one's feelings into lyrics and instruments is a great way to channel this energy, whether you're celebrating an amazing relationship, lamenting losing your lover or anything in between. Because of this, the 'love song' is one of the most repeated tropes in music. Love songs take many forms. They span eras and genres, constantly evolving. Some love songs are obviously and outwardly about love and romance, while others are more subtle and personal. With that, here are some of the best love songs written by artists from the Madison area.  " I Know What It's Like " by Disq The Madison natives Disq are starting to gain some critical attention, riding their guitar-heavy, melody driven indie rock. "I Know What It's Like" was released as a sin...

Behind the Song: "The Flat Earth" by Thomas Dolby - American Songwriter

Image
" The Earth can be any shape you want it Any shape at all Dark and cold or bright and warm Long or thin or small …" The name Thomas Dolby was something his friends called him for fun, and he kept it. It sounded better to him than the given name, Tom Robertson. In 1980, he emerged on the pop scene with the hit single "She Blinded Me With Science." In that song and the MTV video for it, he took on the role of the rocking mad scientist, connected to all the cool synths, then in vogue, that he played. He extended which identity he extended into his next single, from the 1984 album The Flat Earth. Now all these years later, it's still the title song that still outshines all the other songs, but in a subtle, gentle way. It somehow sounds as compelling as it did 36 years ago — ambitious in its percussive groove and poignantly nonsensical lyrics. Reflecting the rising tide of increasing uncertainty with the most foundational truths of our lives — such as if the ...

Goan artistes Bollywood remix gets accolades - Times of India

Image
Allan D'souza aja DJ Skeletron – DJ, music producer and music educator – from Margao recently did a remix of the popular Gehraiyaan title track, which got a great response online, and got picked by a reputed record label. Talking about how this remix came about, he says, "I did this remix for fun. Deepika uploaded the song and it started blowing up from there. It wasn't released anywhere. Since many people were searching for the song, I decided to remix it by extracting the audio from her reel. I edited the video in a very appealing way, with transitions and it caught the eye of the director. It reached him when I just had 5000 views, and then Siddhant (Chaturvedi) shared it and tagged me in his story. Ankur Tewari pitched my song to a music label and they picked it up." The song uploaded on YouTube has over half a million views and over 2,00,000 views on Reels, with several artistes using the song in their own reels. It's also officially released on all musi...

Best Puccini operas: the Italian composer’s greatest works - Classic FM

Image
15 February 2022, 17:38 Best Puccini operas – from Turandot to Tosca. Picture: Alamy By Maddy Shaw Roberts From 'Tosca' to 'Turandot', we explore Italian composer Giacomo Puccini's greatest operas. When it comes to tragic opera and heart-wrenching arias, it has to be Giacomo Puccini. Young Giacomo was born in Lucca, Italy in 1858, into a family of musicians and composers. On seeing his first opera, Giuseppe Verdi's Aida, a 15-year-old Puccini said he "felt a musical window had opened". Now widely considered the 'heir' of Verdi, Puccini is known as one of the great composers of Italian opera. While his early work is traditional, late-19th-century Romantic Italian opera, Puccini became better known for writing in the verismo style – Italian for 'realism'. He wrote 12 operas in total – Le Villi (1884), Edgar (1889), Manon Lescaut (1893), La bohème (1896), To...
