YouTube TV hits 4M subscribers, surpasses Hulu as biggest vMVPD: analyst - FierceVideo

Image
YouTube TV, Google's live streaming TV service, now has about 4 million subscribers, pushing it ahead of Hulu + Live TV as the biggest virtual MVPD in the U.S. Hulu + Live TV lost another 100,000 subscribers during the second quarter and brought its total down to 3.7 million. According to an estimate from MoffettNathanson, YouTube TV added another 200,000 subscribers during the same quarter. The newest YouTube TV subscriber total comes from Lightshed analyst Rich Greenfield, who broke down the implications for YouTube TV's standoff with NBCUniversal that could result in the programmer's broadcast channels, regional sports networks and cable channels being dropped from the service at midnight on Thursday if no new agreement is reached. Greenfield suspects that the impasse comes down to Peacock, NBC's direct-to-consumer streaming service, and most-favored nations clauses, which requires a supplier to treat customers no worse than all ot...

20 classic rock songs with no guitar solo - Guitar World

Image
In most cases, the guitar solo serves as a major component in classic rock and metal songs. Think Comfortably Numb , Bohemian Rhapsody , Free Bird . But there have been cases in which classic tunes in the rock canon have gone solo-less. Now of course, the majority of first-wave punk rockers cut out guitar solos altogether, a trend that began with the Ramones and continues to this day. But for this list, we're talking about mostly good old fashioned classic rock and metal from the golden age of the '60s through to the '90s.  And, of course, it wasn't due to the guitarist in the band not being technically gifted enough to supply a solo, but rather, it just didn't fit into the song – or the riff was strong enough to carry the load. Here we present a countdown of the 20 greatest rock songs that don't contain a guitar solo. 20. SCOOB! The Album: Hear New Songs From Best Coast & Rico Nasty - Stereogum

Image
The soundtrack from the new Scooby Doo movie Scoob! is out today. Earlier this week, when details on the soundtrack dropped, we learned that it brought together a remarkable combination of artists including Best Coast, Rico Nasty, and Charlie Puth. Puth's offering, a duet with Lennon Stella called "Summer Feelings," was already out, and now we get to hear the others. Best Coast's contribution is a cover of the classic Scooby Doo theme song — you know, "Scooby Dooby Doo/ Where are you?" — which, frankly, suits Bethany Cosentino's brand of West Coast guitar-pop just fine. The Rico Nasty track, "My Little Alien," errs on her pop side. No viciously raunchy bars here, just a catchy hook. Scoob! The Album also includes songs from Pink Sweat$, Jack Harlow, Sage The Gemini, Galantis, R3HAB, A R I Z O N A, Rare Americans, Token, Faouzia, BygTwo3, and an unexpected convergence of country stars Thomas Rhett and Kane Brown with pop upstart Ava Max. But the album's final track, "Apartment Song," finds the possibility of release, as Cara sings, "Got no lover/but the color of the sky tonight's so nice I don't mind."
